The North Shore Montessori School

The North Shore Montessori School is a very small private school located in Rowley, Massachusetts. Serving pre-kindergarten children through age 6, the school is dedicated to the well being and development of each individual child. Their mission has been so successful that Margaret Henry, the school’s founder, found herself and her students needing room to expand. They sought a new home for the school, one that would make even further expansion, if necessary, possible. Due to a very tight schedule, a new building was out of the question. The new location had to be ready for the beginning of school in the Fall of 2010, and the process of contract negotiations between properties (as is typical) took quite a bit of time. The BRC was first contacted in early July of 2010, and commissioned to design and offer consulting services for the complete renovation of an existing barn/garage. The new school needed to house two classrooms for approximately 40 students, incorporate an outdoor learning space and be mindful of possible future expansions. The project consists of all phases of design and construction including both interior and exterior work, site work (including a new septic system), HVAC, electrical and plumbing work and all finish work. The entire project had to be completed in EIGHT WEEKS - there were families depending on us. We did it.
