The BRC is an open office comprised of professionals that address design on multiple levels. This means not just architecture and interiors, but also product design, branding and logos, landscape architecture, websites, even grant writing for appropriate clients. We don't feel that design is only about certain things or for certain people, design is about everything people do and make - all people.
"Why 'green'? After the birth of our first son, I started to demand more of my work. If I had to spend time away from this amazing little person, I wanted that time to be spent in meaningful work. In recent years, 'green' has become the new, hot topic; this trend is growing and will continue to expand. This is wonderful, and it's about time. Unfortunately, for the most part, many of the designs that have emerged are kind of like Brussels sprouts. You don't really like them, but you are told they are good for you, so you tolerate them - even try to convince others that they're really great. If you want something nicer (maybe a fancy sauce to help cover the bitter taste), you are often told (as with so much in the design world) that this will cost you. This is nuts. As new products become available, techniques and technologies become better understood, building codes change and the demand for more environmentally friendly, people friendly architecture grows; there is no reason why it should not be beautiful, affordable and reliable. Now with two little boys, I’m even more committed to the idea that better, healthier buildings can and should become the norm". - John Rossi, Design Principal We believe that what is now called "green building" will simply be called "building" in a few years (please see an episode of "Chronicle" for more). But: how do you get there now? Here at the BRC, we take collaboration seriously. We're not just talking about each other, but also about collaboration with our clients, our consultants, with the neighborhood and the environment. This is about all of us working together to create something that no single one of us would have created on our own. If you're interested, please contact us. We'd like to hear from you and see how we can work together. |
